Lambasingi, a Nature’s Paradise

Lambasingi (or Lammasingi) a small Hill Station near Narsipatnam in the Eastern Ghats of Chintapalli Mandal of Alluri Sitaramaraju Raju district of Andhra Pradesh.

Situated at an altitude of 10, 764 feet above sea level, the area is cooler and moist in forest cover. Lambasingi is quite famous for its snowfall and earned a reputation as the Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh. The temperatures of this village will be below 10 degrees during winter from November to January and sometimes the temperature goes as low as 0 °C, and the best time to enjoy is 4.00 am – 9.00 am. The temperature during summer is warm and pleasant complemented by the right amount of dampness. It receives rainfall from both southwest and northeast retrieving monsoon with avg rainfall exceeding 1500 mm along the coastal plain of the East Coast.

Lambasingi abounds with a variety of wildlife, flora, and fauna, it is famous for coffee, Turmeric and Black Pepper plantations along with little apple and strawberry farms.

ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad stands as a beacon of agricultural innovation and sustainability, focusing on the advancement of millet research and cultivation in India. It plays a crucial role in empowering Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Through strategic partnerships and strong support systems, ICAR-IIMR has promoted 40 FPOs in four states (AP, TS, Karnataka, MP) and handholding FPOs in other states like Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Assam and NEH areas for fostering their growth and development. Among these 40 FPOs, 9 FPOs are from Andhra Pradesh covering Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram and Anantapur districts.

IIMR has formed and handholding 40 FPOs and supporting by providing millets seeds, technologies of processing and value addition, assisting in getting Management Cost, equity grants.

OUR STORY

Tribals grow and collect a wide variety of food products based on their knowledge of the diversity of plants and trees in the forests. However, for their sustainability, they rely on nontribal moneylenders to take advance money from their generations, dictating terms to them and in return these moneylenders collect produce from tribal’s at very low prices. In this order, the tribal’s have been exploited by moneylenders form generations.

Against this backdrop, Lambasingi Tribal Products Farmers Producer Company Limited (LTPFPO) is a company registered in 2021 to help the small & marginal tribal farmers to procure and market their farm products and earn brand equity for Lambasingi Tribal Products.

Lambasingi Tribal Products (LTP) are cultivated by tribal farmers using organic manure. They don’t use pesticides or fertilizers to get the highest yield. Seeds for cultivation are procured from Tribal Farmers and supplied to the needy Tribal farmers at subsidized prices.

LTPFPO procures the harvested finest quality of Naturally cultivated farm products from around 300 plus tribal's farmers such as Turmeric, Coffee, Black Pepper ,Raw Forest Honey, Millets, Pulses, Rice and seasonal plantations besides that many varieties of fruits like Pineapple ,Strawberry ,Jack fruit ,Ghuva ,Mango ,Custard apple and many other medicinal plants.
